Macon residents compete in International Scavenger Hunt
Three Macon residents are participating in an international competition that allows participants to make unforgettable memories, while helping their local communities at the same time.
The hunt is called “GISHWHES” and it stands for The Greatest International Scavenger Hunt The World Has Ever Seen.
Jenny Fingles, Rebekah Hogg, and Dana Nicolazzi have been working all week with teammates in California, Canada, and Trinidad to complete as many tasks as they can on the 185 item list.
On Wednesday evening, Hogg painted Fingles to look like the bear statue in Washington Park. Thursday morning, the girls showed off their artwork at a local gallery.
The items on the list range from having grandparents mud-wrestle to becoming a bone marrow donor.
The girls said they’ve registered to become bone marrow donors and have taken CPR classes as a result of this scavenger hunt.
The competition is designed to have people create life-long memories while positively impacting the community.
All together, GISHERS have broken 5 world records, performed more than 93,000 random acts of kindness, and fed thousands of homeless people.
Tomorrow the girls plan on challenging one of the skaters from the national roller derby team in Atlanta to a game of hopscotch.
They girls said they will continue to participate in GISHWHES.
This year’s grand prize is a trip to Croatia with the creator of the hunt, Misha Collins.
