Macon-Bibb looking to cast bigger net as more dilapidated houses fall
The house is the third one torn down this fiscal year.
Chris Floore, with the Macon-Bibb County government, says they’ll be trying to find a more focused way to demolish the houses instead of different areas around the county.
He says the goal is to find houses in smaller, tighter areas similar to the 5×5 block program.
The efforts could be a way to save the county money.
“Ultimately the goal is to have a greater more visible impact in a shorter amount of time,” Floore said.
“Instead of demolishing say five houses in a neighborhood over the course of a year, if we can demolish all five in like two to three weeks, you’re going to see a greater impact in that neighborhood in a short amount of time,” he said.
Floore adds some of the steps are in motion to focus in on areas that can go through the process of being torn down quicker.
