Two Area Teachers in Running for Georgia Teacher of the Year

Two local teachers are named finalists for Georgia’s 2012 teacher of the year.

Houston County Teacher of the Year, Beth Sciarro, is one of ten finalists chosen from 154 teachers across the state. She is an Early Intervention Program reading teacher at Northside Elementary School.

Bibb County Teacher of the Year, Jadun McCarthy, is one of the lucky ten left in the running. He is a teacher at Northeast High School.

The winner will be announced at the Georgia Teacher of the Year banquet on May 6. The winner will travel the state and nation as an ambassador for educators.
