Tattnall Square Park receives new designation, rain garden

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) -Tattnall Square Park is now one of 12 “Frontline Parks” in the nation.

The City Parks Alliance named the park as a standout example of urban park excellence across the country.

The “Frontline Park” program identifies city parks that meet unique urban challenges such as smaller budgets, pressures with using the land, and the wear and tear of neighborhoods in the area.

Friends of Tattnall Square Park along with private donors committed hundreds of thousands of dollars to install a stone bridge and rain gardens in the park.

Andrew Silver, the chair for Friends of Tattnall Square Park, says the latest park projects aren’t the last upgrades the community will see.

Future projects will include new sidewalks, a historic fountain, and public art throughout the park.
