Weather Forecast for June 10, 2014
Middle Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Temperatures climb to the 90s again today, with abundant sunshine in the area. Like yesterday, we do see the chance for some pop-up storms, but just like yesterday, we expect them to be short-lived and sparse. Therefore, we’ve kept the rainfall chances at around 20% due to storms affecting only a few parts of the area. Some of the storms that form, like yesterday, could pack a lot of lightning, but again, they won’t last long.
It’s tomorrow when the forecast gets messier with a low pressure system working its way into the southeast. Rainfall should be more widespread, starting mostly in the afternoon. Should you see storms start during the middle of the afternoon (the hottest time of the day, on average), you could see some severe storms. I expect that any of you who get rainfall earlier in the day will get rain-cooled air, which will help stifle severe storm chances. Either way, there’s plenty of convective energy out there tomorrow, so storms are likely.
These increased storm chances are forecast to last into Thursday.
