New State Representative Dickey Ready to Get to Work

Newly elected District 136 State Representative Robert Dickey, says his top priority will be to help tackle the $2 billion dollar budget shortfall. Dickey will take office this Tuesday, after the Secretary of State’s office officially approves the election results.

Dickey will also have to weigh in on the controversial topic of illegal immigration. According to Dickey, the first order of business will be to appoint him to committees. His background in farming and business has lead some State Representatives to show interest in assigning him to the Economic Development and Agriculture Committees.

Dickey now represents around 40,000 residents living in 7 different counties. The 2011 legislative session started back on January 10th, but with it expected to go through April, Dickey will have two months to work with other elected officials.
