Macon Mayor: Teen Dating Violence a “Significant Problem”

Macon Mayor Robert Reichert calls teen dating violence a serious problem here in Middle Georgia. Today the mayor signed a proclamation declaring February “Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.” He says, we as a community need to be more aware of the problems that stem from violence in teenage relationships since these actions can have life altering ramifications.

“Because a teen that is subjected to violence during a dating relationship may figure well this is the way it’s supposed to be or whatever. And that can lead them into other problems as well and into domestic violence in a marital relationship,” explains Reichert.

They mayor also says so many of these crimes go unreported and he believes that needs to change. ??
