Macon teens starts online business

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – One Macon teen turned her crafty hobby into her own jewelry business called KiKi Jabri Jewels.

Kiana Kiki Elam, 15, makes a living by selling her hand-made bracelets at local boutiques, and a popular shopping website, Etsy.

The teen offers encouragement for people of all ages who want to open their own business.

“No matter how old you are, or if something’s wrong with you, you can always do what you want to do if you put your heart in it. Like, no dream is impossible,” says Elam.

The young entrepreneur started her business when she was 13-years-old.

Her mother Keisha Lowe helped her get started by buying tools and supplies for her daughter.

Lowe says the craft has helped Elam in her personal journey.

“Her self-esteem just kept growing and growing and growing…”

Last year, Kiki Jabri Jewels made more than $6,000, and the family hopes this year will be even more prosperous.

With hundreds of bracelets made and sold, Elam hopes her hobby continues to touch lives and inspire other youth to fulfill their dreams.
