Autopsy to Determine if Body is Missing Crawford County Man

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says an
autopsy will be conducted on Tuesday to determine if a body found
in a shallow grave in Crawford County is a missing Taylor County
man.

Craig Rotter, special assistant agent in charge of the GBI
office in Perry, says 22-year-old James Dudley Byers III was last
seen Dec. 19 leaving a Fort Valley home in a truck with 21-year-old
Cody Daniel Jackson of Musella.

The GBI says Jackson’s truck was later found burning near the
Crawford County landfill, and Jackson is charged with murder in
Byers’ disappearance. The body was found on Saturday.

Jackson was in the Crawford County jail on an unrelated
probation violation warrant when he was charged.
