Culloden Woman Escapes House Fire
A Monroe County woman is living with family members today after her home caught fire late last night.
Culloden volunteer firefighters were the first to arrive at the home on Knoxville Street in Culloden. They discovered smoke and flames coming from the back of the house.
Monroe County Fire Investigator Captain Jason Lott said the cause of the fire was an “AC window unit that had overheated and caught fire.” It was determined that 50% of the house was destroyed by fire and smoke damage.
The elderly woman who lived in the home was not injured.
The American Red Cross and firefighters from Monroe County and Bolingbroke also responded to the fire.
