MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A Macon Police crusier was involved in an accident on I-75 south Friday afternoon.

According to Lieutenant Sean DeFoe with the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the deputy driving the car was pulling to the side of the road to check on two pedestrians who were walking along the wall near the Pierce Avenue exit.

DeFoe says another vehicle rear-ended the police car, but no one was injured.

One of the pedestrians, 48-year-old Curtis Jones was arrested and charged for being under the influence and walking on the interstate. DeFoe said not only is it dangerous to walk on the highway, it’s illegal.
