Gunman Steals Car with Child Inside

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An 8-year-old boy was found uninjured and unharmed after a gunman stole the vehicle the child fell asleep in earlier Sunday morning.

According to Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies, a mother left her son sleeping inside an unlocked vehicle while helping her friend take in groceries at Villa West Apartments in west Macon.

As the mother came out of the apartments, a male suspect entered her car, drove off and fired shots into the air.

Shortly after the reporting the incident, deputies found the stolen vehicle at Hollingsworth Road and Log Cabin Drive.

Paramedics checked the child on site for any injuries. Then the boy was given back to his mother.

Officials took the stolen vehicle to the Bibb Sheriff’s Office Crime Lab.

At this time, a description of the suspect is not available.

This incident is currently under investigation.
