Weather Conditions Across Middle Georgia
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The following emergency management agencies have provided 41NBC with updates:
Baldwin County – As of 9 a.m. Wednesday, Milledgeville-Baldwin County EMA Director Troy Reynolds had no road closures or accidents to report. He did say the 911 Center had lost power but was operating with the help of generators. There’s still mostly rain in the area, but some ice is starting to develop on trees and power lines.
Bibb County – Macon-Bibb EMA Director Don Druitt said the emergency operations center staff plan to meet at 8 a.m. Wednesday and determine which roads will need to be treated. There will be a briefing at 11 a.m. with the National Weather Service.
Houston County – Chief Jimmy Williams with the Houston County EMA reported just wind and rain as of 8 a.m. Wednesday. Public works crews have already been treating roads. The team will have a briefing with the National Weather Service at 11 a.m.
Laurens County – Laurens County EMA Director Donald Bryant said ice has been seen in the northern most part of the county. There are no road closures at this time. An EMA meeting with county officials is scheduled for 10 a.m.
Twiggs County – The Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office is reporting icy road conditions on Bullard Road and Highway 96. Sheriff Darren Mitchum is urging residents to stay off the roadways. The sheriff’s office is trying to avoid any problems and says for your safety, don’t drive.
Wilkinson County – According to the Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Office, the area is slowly starting to freeze with ice visible on some trees. As of 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, there are no road closures or accidents.
