State of Emergency Declared in Macon-Bibb County

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Mayor Robert Reichert has declared a state of emergency for Macon-Bibb County, according to a news release sent out Wednesday night.

The declaration was made after weather briefings from the National Weather Service and consulting with local agencies.

Government offices will open at 12pm Thursday afternoon, and staff are urged to be careful and use caution while traveling to work. If roads are too dangerous, they’re asked to call their supervisor.

“We want people to be safe through this weather because we are not accustomed to driving in these conditions,” Mayor Reichert said.
