Stephen McDaniel Murder Trial to Start in April
MACON, Georgia (41NBC) – A new start date is set for the Stephen McDaniel murder trial.
According to McDaniel’s attorney, Frank Hogue, jury selection will begin on April 28.
Hogue says he is prepared and ready to go to trial.
The location of the trial has not been determined yet. Hogue says the defense’s motion to change the venue was granted, but he’s not sure where it is going. Hogue did say that it would be a non-Bibb County jury who would hear the case.
Hogue says there are two options: they could either go to another venue, select the jury, and try the case there or go to another venue and brig the jury back to Bibb County to try the case. Hogue says a decision has not been made.
The original trial date was February 3.
McDaniel is accused of murdering and dismembering Mercer law grad Lauren Giddings in June 2011.
