Superintendent Dallemand Opens up About His Views on Bibb Schools

New Bibb County Superintendent Dr. Romain Dallemand wrapped up his first week on the job.

Dallemand spent the past week meeting with staff and board members. He says he has also been learning about the school system.

He says he has noticed the lack of unity in the district. “We have individuals in departments…it’s not that they aren’t working hard, however, they are moving in different directions, and we need to function as one system,” says Dallemand.

The new Superintendent also says a top priority is addressing disciplinary action in the schools.

“We need schools that are safe for our students to learn, and we need schools that our teachers can do their jobs. I do believe when you have a youngster bringing a gun to school we do have a major issue,” says Dallemand.

Dallemand plans to spend at least one day in each of the 41 schools in Bibb County. He says he will talk to principals, teachers, and students. He will also sit in on classes.

Dallemand believes in using a direct line of communication with the school system, which he says will help him develop a strategic plan to improve AYP scores.

On Thursday, Dallemand will present an entry level plan he has created to school board members, and on Friday, he will begin touring the schools.
