Mercer Men’s Tennis Drops 6-1 Decision to Wofford

MACON, Ga. (MERCER RELEASE) – The Mercer men’s tennis team continued a tough swing to start its 2014 season following a 6-1 loss at Wofford on Sunday afternoon at the John E. Reeves Tennis Center.

After Wofford (2-10 swept all three doubles matches to capture the first point of the match, Rob Galloway defeated sophomore Oliver Snaider 6-4, 6-2 at No. 1 singles to go up by a 2-0 margin.

The Terriers clinched the match when Trevor Gotkowski bested freshman Manuel De Luis 6-5 (7-4), 6-1 at No. 5 singles to secure the fourth point of the match.

Mercer (1-7) tallied its only point of the match when sophomore Austin Emmet defeated Wofford’s Walker Heffron 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-8) at No. 4 singles.

Mercer finally returns to Macon for its first home match of the 2014 season against Alabama State on January 31 at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center.
