Laurens County EMA: G-DOT Tending to Icy Bridges Over I-16
DUBLIN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Bridges are an area where G-DOT was focusing it’s energy in Laurens County Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning.
According to Bill Laird, the Laurens County EMA Deputy Director, ice was forming on bridges over I-16 in the county.
“We’ve not had any accidents on the highway. Traffic has been real, real sparse and most people are you know heeding all of the warnings that have been issued and staying home,” said Laird.
So far so good in Laurens County. Laird said as of 12 a.m. Wednesday morning, there wasn’t really any major emergencies his agency or any others responded to.
“You know if turns out we were prepared and didn’t have to do a whole lot of work, then that’s a blessing in itself,” said Laird.
Laird also said, two trees knocked out power for a few residents in Dublin, and one hit a power line in Laurens County.
Crews immediately worked to get power back up and running.
