Man Indicted for Robbery by Intimidation

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A man with a lengthy criminal history was indicted by a Bibb County Grand Jury, Tuesday, for armed robbery and two counts of robbery by intimidation.

Macon Police said Daniel Bryan Koon walked into the Publix Grocery Store, located at 195 Tom Hill Sr. Blvd., and demanded money from the Customer Service Clerk, on Aug. 6, 2013, according to an arrest warrant.

Police say Koon gave the clerk a note demanding the cash and told the victim he had a gun and to give him all the money.

Witnesses told police Koon was wearing a blue jacket with a white stripe across the back and a camoflauge ballcap with a G on the front. 

They also gave a complete description of Koon’s get away car describing it as a Black 2002 Ford Escape. They were also able to give police his tag number.

Detectives were able to determine the car was stolen out of Jones County.

Weeks earlier, on July 31, police said Koon walked into the Family Dollar, located at 160 Emory Highway, in Macon and picked-up a candy bar, “took it to the register as if to pay for it,” according to the arrest warrant.
Then asked the cashier for cigarettes. But, when the cashier turned to get the cigarettes, Koon placed a note on the counter for the cashier. It read, “this is a robbery. I have a gun, don’t do anything stupid.”

At that point the cashier notified the store manager, who came to the front to open register. She too read the note. She told police while she was reading the note. Koon had his hand in his pocket and pointed what she believed to be a gun at her.

Police say Koon left the store and walked into a CVS store next door. Police used video surveillance from both stores to identify Koon.

Just days before, on July 22,  Koon is accused robbing the Kroger, located at 660 North Ave., in Macon. Police said Konn handed the “U Scan” employee a note stating that he had a gun, “this is a robbery.” Koon took the cash form the Kroger employee and left the store on foot.
