Baldwin County Under Boil Water Advisory, Schools Impacted

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Baldwin County residents are under a boil water advisory until further notice and is causing issues at some schools.

According to a news release from the Baldwin County Water & Sewer department, service has been interrupted in several areas because of the extreme weather conditions. Water pressure in parts of the system dropped to dangerously low levels.

All residents who have experienced water outages or low water pressure are asked to boil their water prior to drinking, cooking, or preparing baby food. Officials say the water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a steady boil.

The water issues are causing problems for Baldwin schools.

According to the school district’s website, Midway Elementary was without water on Thursday and will be without water again on Friday. The schedule for those students has changed for the day. Click here for more information.

John Milledge Academy will be closed Friday due to the water problems, that’s according to the school’s website. The site says a decision will be made by noon about the status of Saturday’s scheduled athletic games.
