Macon Ministry Feed and Clothed Homeless During Freezing Weather
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Today, A local ministry gave away sack lunches and
other items to keep homeless people warm.
More than fifty people lined up at loaves and fish ministry in Macon to get free blankets, coats, gloves, hats, and personal hygiene kits.
As the temperature plummeted down to eleven degrees people scrambled in search of whatever they could find to stay warm.
Several churches, ministries, and community agencies are working to do what they can for the less fortunate.”There’s been a conservative effort among all of the resource centers in town to make sure that the people who are homeless and are subject to the cold will have a warm place to stay,” says Loaves and Fishes Ministry Administrative Asst., Sarah Tapley.
Last night as beds at the Salvation Army filled up, other homeless people were bussed to temporary shelters around Macon. Temperatures are expected to drop again Tuesday night.
Even more homeless people are scheduled to be bused again to temporary shelters.
