Heavy Rains Close Ocmulgee Heritage Trail Until 2014
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Folks looking to go for a walk along the Ocmulgee River will have to wait until next year.
The Ocmulgee Heritage Trail was closed Sunday night and will stay closed until Thursday, January 2. A release from the City of Macon says the river has risen above the flood stage of 18 feet and will lead to minor flooding along the trail.
Sunday night around 9 p.m., the National Weather Service website listed water levels in the river at Macon at more than 20 feet.
