Stolen car hits home late Wednesday night, Bibb Sheriff’s Office investigating

BIBB COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb Sheriff’s Office is investigating a vehicle theft that happened late Wednesday night on Houston Road.

A news release says that the owner of a 2009 Dodge Charger left the vehicle unlocked when they went inside of the King’s Foodmart.

While the owner was in the store, a man wearing all black clothing jumped into the vehicle and sped off.

A Bibb Sheriff’s patrol unit was on Pio Nono Avenue when the suspect sped passed them.

The suspect lost control of the vehicle and struck the rear corner of a house, located at the corner of Vining Circle and Pio Nono Avenue.

The vehicle’s engine caught fire and the suspect fled the scene on foot and no one was in the house, and no one was injured.

The Bibb Sheriff’s Office is urging citizens to turn off their vehicles and secure them, even if you are leaving your vehicle for a short period of time.
