U.S. Marshals Catch Wanted Macon Man Near Atlanta

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon man on the run from police was caught just outside of Atlanta, Friday.

U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Task Force arrested 21-year-old Roberto Thorpe in East Point, on Barge Road.

Thorpe had been on the run from authorities, after he allegedly pistol whipped a man during an armed robbery attempt, according to U.S. Marshal Task Force Supervisor John Edgar.

The incident happened Nov. 21, on Goodwin Drive in Macon. Thorpe was on parole for a burglary charge at the time of the alleged assault.

The task force has been tracking Thorpe for about a week, and a half,  before apprehending him, said Edgar.The supervisor, added their investigation led them to the suspect’s location.

According to Edgar, Thorpe was taken into custody without incident.

He is charged with aggravated assault, criminal attempt of armed robbery and parole violation.
