Bibb BOC to Hold Last Meeting After Christmas

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Bibb County Board of Commissioners went behind closed doors to discuss how to handle building the county an animal shelter.

Friday’s meeting was scheduled to be the last time the board of commisioners were to meet. But, because they could not come to an agreement, they scheduled another “last meeting.”

The new session stemmed from, commissioners agreeing they wanted more details about companies bidding to build the animal shelter.

Lonzy Edwards, District 1 BOC member said he could not reveal specific details about the closed meeting.

“We had three million dollars to build a new animal shelter, and this was SPLOST (Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax) money and we put it out for bids,” said Edwards. “It was obvious from the bidding process that we did have enough money currently to build the building that we contemplated. So we are looking at our options to see what we can do about it. We are not in a position to make a decision,” added Edwards. “We need additional information about the various aspects of the process. We will have a call meeting on Dec. 27, and deal with the decision at that time. But we will make a decision on the 27th, about which contract would be selected, for the animal shelter.”
