‘Santa in the Park’ Brings Joy to Middle Georgia Children
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The 10th annual ‘Santa in the Park’ event hosted by the Macon Police Department drew more than 400 children and their families to Central City Park for a chance to win free bikes and toys for Christmas.
Children had the opportunity to receive haircuts, food, enjoy a few holiday classics and dancing. Officers with the youth intervention unit were also on hand to emcee the event.
Park visitor Anne Yeomans brought her grandson with her. She says this tradition is about the love in the community, and helping those in need during the Christmas season.
“It’s wonderful,” Yeomans believes, “We have to learn to do for others, and others will do for us. So, it’s just a wonderful time of the year, and it’s the time of the year when giving is the most important thing.”
More than 54 bikes and 300 toys were given away by the officers.
