53rd Annual Christmas Parade Rings in the Holidays for Middle Georgia

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – It’s beginning to look a lot like “Christmas” in Middle Georgia.

The 53rd annual Christmas Parade was held on Sunday in downtown Macon, and thousands of people showed up in the rainy weather to join the festivities.

“This parade was really cool, especially all the groups of young kids going through dancing, because it’s always fun seeing the littlest ones, you know, there getting down the most,” says parade-goer Trey Van Dyke.

Dancers, motorcyclists and parade marchers filled one end of Cherry Street to another.

Many people enjoyed music, dancing and food, but for a few children and even adults, the man from the North Pole was the highlight of the evening.

“Santa Claus is cute and I want him to give me some presents when I wake up in the morning on the 25th, and we don’t have to go to school,” says Kaylia Pete.

It’s a tradition that rings in the Christmas holiday season making spirits a little brighter.
