Fatal Traffic Accident in Macon Leaves 1 Dead, I-16 East Blocked

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Macon-Bibb County Fire Department and police officers responded to a fatal accident on Interstate 16 east bound near Spring Street.

41NBC was on the scene as the emergency services investigated the accident.

According to a news release, the accident involves a tractor-trailer and several cars.

Bibb County Coroner Lean Jones tells us 47-year-old Michael Thorpe of Macon died at the scene.

As of Tuesday afternoon, all east bound lanes are blocked, but will be re-opened.
