Local Retailer Provides Spark For Forsyth Job Growth
FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A spark that creates a fire–that’s what Forsyth Mayor John Howard hopes the newest business in Forsyth will provide.
The city agreed to bring in Tractor Supply Company, a retail chain store that sells merchandise including home improvement and agricultural items.
The big pull was jobs–while the store will provide only about 20 jobs, it’s the start to something even bigger.
“It’s just hard to function and live and be able to take care of a family if there is no income,” said Mayor John Howard II. “So that’s what I think they will do for us. I think them coming here, making themselves at home, being successful in this community will be a spark for something new to happen.”
The mayor went on to say the jobs were something Forsyth desperately needs–the city has lost more than 1600 jobs since 1995, and this move will begin the process of getting those back.
