Dedication Ceremony Held for Newly Renovated Library

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – County Board of Commissioners (BOC) dedicated, the Nola Brantley Memorial Library, Monday.

The newly renovated library is located at 721 Watson Boulevard, in Warner Robins.

Houston County politicians, dignitaries, and residents were on hand for the event, which featured a ribbon cutting.

Houston County BOC Chairman, Tommy Stalnaker addressed the more than 150 people who crowded into the library.

“This library being renovated is going to be an asset to the community and to the county as a whole for many years to come,” said Stalnaker.

The BOC chairman said the library was demolished completely on the inside and totally renovated. The only things that remain from the old building are the four exterior walls and the roof.

The library was renovated, at a cost of 1.9 million dollars.

It now has more than twenty five thousand square feet, 32 computers, and more than, 84,000 books, films and other library materials.

The library’s history room has also been expanded.

United States Air Force Colonel, Christopher D. Hill of Robins Air Force Base said the renovation of the library shows how well the community works together for a common goal.

“This is really more than a library,” said Col. Hill “It’s a mirror, a reflection of our community dedication and support not only to education, but really to the next generation of learners and leaders.”
