Grand Jury Indicts Man for Running Over Firefighter
MACON, Georgia (41 NBC/WMGT) – The man arrested for running over Macon Bibb County firefighter Sergeant Eric John, was indicted by a grand jury Tuesday.
Nayef Mohammed Al-Shroof, 18, of Warner Robins, was driving his 2009 Toyota Camry 10 miles over the posted speed limit on I-75, when he hit the firefighter, according to the indictment.
The incident happened Aug. 11, in the southbound lane of the interstate near the Sardis Church Road exit.
John was cleaning up debris following an auto accident when he was hit by Al-Shroof.
Al-Shroof is charged with serious injury by vehicle, reckless driving and violation of the Georgia Move over law.
