College Hill Alliance Launches the ‘Macon Makers’ Movement

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The College Hill Alliance of Mercer University has a new idea for the movers and shakers of Macon.

Whether you’re business owner, or you have a money-making hobby, the College Hill Alliance considers you to be a ‘Macon Maker.’

According to the College Hill Alliance Director of Communications, Jessica Walden, the group consists of creators, innovators and business risk-takers.

“It is creating a database for our makers, creating a resource both for our community and consumer and the makers themselves,” Walden says, “We’re just looking for those ways to discover how strong our maker movement is.”

The collaboration between local entrepreneurs and the group steamed from a national trend to find people across America who contribute their specific skill set, and want to increase business profits.

“We look at how to attract and retain young talent. ‘Makers Movement’ is a big part of that, because so many people are creating right now, and are already in business, or want to take it to the next level for their business. What that means in the big picture are jobs,” says Walden.

More than 60 members of the local community have signed-up to be apart of the ‘Macon Makers’ group.
