Second Murder Suspect Arrested in Econo Lodge Homicide
WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A second murder suspect has been arrested in the Econo Lodge homicide case.
U.S. Marshals recently arrested 25 -year-old Stephen Randall Johnson, at a Food Giant grocery store parking lot in Byron.
Johnson of Byron is charged in the death of 23-year-old Matthew Garner of Warner Robins.
Garner was shot and killed on Oct. 10, at the Econo Lodge in Byron.
Warner Robins police said although Johnson is not the shooter, he is charged with murder.
According to Tabatha Pugh, a spokesperson for the police department, robbery was the motive in the killing.
The first murder suspect, Kenneth Sharpe, was shot in the chest during the incident, and died hours later in Alabama.
Police said Garner knew both of his assailants. However, they declined to comment further on the homicide case.
