GSP Searching for Log Truck Hit and Run Driver
GORDON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A log truck traveling on the wrong side of the road hit another tractor trailer and kept on going.
The accident happened Wednesday around 3 p.m. on Georgia State Route 57 in Wilkinson County near Gordon.
Georgia State Patrol Trooper Chad Harrison said a witness saw the log truck side swipe the 18 wheeler, which was carrying gravel and rocks.
Harrison returned to the scene of the accident Thursday, to watch video from a surveillance camera at a store near the accident scene.
The trooper said they do not have a tag number or any other information about the black log tractor trailer. It was traveling west on Highway 57 at the time of the accident.
“The cab of the rock truck along with the trailer was damaged,” said Harrison.
The driver of the tractor trailer is in stable condition at the Medical Center of Central Georgia.
“He sustained injuries from flying glass and from trying to hold on top the steering wheel when he was hit,” added the trooper.
Anyone with information about the identity of the log truck driver or the accident, is asked to call the Georgia State Patrol at 478-275-6630.
