Smith Expects RB Jackson to Practice This Week

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) – Falcons coach Mike Smith says running back Steven Jackson, who has missed the last four games, is expected to practice on Wednesday.

Smith said Monday Jackson won’t have full participation immediately in his return from a hamstring injury. Jackson didn’t practice last week but Smith says the latest report on the running back late in the week “was very good in terms of his testing and the opportunity to go play.”

Smith says adjustments and corrections made during the bye week played a big role in Atlanta’s 31-23 win over Tampa Bay on Sunday. The Falcons snapped a three-game losing streak with the win.

Jackson’s return could provide another boost. The Falcons were held to only 18 yards rushing by the Buccaneers.

Atlanta plays at Arizona on Sunday.
