Bibb Schools Administrative Offices Could Possibly Move

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Bibb county school system could be moving its administrative offices from downtown Macon to riverside drive to the Hutchings Career Center.

Interim superintendent Steve Smith spoke today about the potential move. The school at the Hutchings Career Center, would then move to the Macon promise center on Pio Nono Avenue.

Smith says a study is being conducted to weigh the positives and negatives of the move, and he also spoke about possible concerns.

“I think everything is very favorable, I think the uncertainty of where are we going to be, are we going to lose our jobs, are we going to be in a different location, I don’t think anybody is going to lose a job, in fact I hope that more jobs are created, so that we employ more people, but it’s too early to tell if this will ever materialize and become a reality, but we won’t know if we don’t study it,” Smith said.

Smith says the results of the study should come out later this year, and he and the board will vote on the potential move in November or December.
