Mercer University to Commemorate 50 Years of Integration

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Singers, speakers and a civil rights leader are coming together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of integration at Mercer University.

Ambassador Andrew Young, a former aid to Martin Luther King Jr., will speak at the school’s convocation this Friday, September 20. The event will kick off around 3 p.m. at the Willingham Auditorium on campus in Macon.

The school is giving away a limited amount of free tickets to the historic ceremony. Tickets can be picked up at the Grand Opera House box office on the Mulberry Street. between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. and the University Center Box Office on the Mercer campus between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
