Twiggs County Man Missing for Two Years

JEFFERSONVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office investigators are working to locate a man who has been missing for two years.

Troy Burnette was last seen at his home on Dec. 19, 2011. He is 49-year-old, 5 feet and 6 inches tall and weighs approximately 168 pounds.

Ida McClinton told deputies it was around 6 p.m., when she saw her son at the home they shared. Two days later she filed a missing persons report.

His family is concerned about Burnette because when he went missing, he was taking medication for seizures and without it he would hallucinate.

The sheriff’s office, fire and rescue volunteers along with the Georgia State Patrol did an extensive search for Burnette. But, they were unable to locate him or any leads in the case.
Two years later his family and friends are still searching for answers. His aunt, Robbie Rouse said the last time she saw her nephew he was walking down Gallimore Mill Road.

“We just want to know what happened to him,” says Rouse. “How he could disappear like he did and no one’s seen him or heard from him. There must be something that can be done to find Troy.”

One of Burnette’s friends, Maryane Thomas, cannot remember the last time she saw him and is beginning to think the worst.

“I think that he’s dead,” said Thomas. “I believe somebody picked him up and carried him off somewhere. Usually if he’s around he would come by and see me. I would say come on Troy I want me a soda today. He’d say I going to buy you and me both one. So, I didn’t see him no more.”

Burnette was known for walking the streets of Jeffersonville or riding his bike through the small town. His family is praying that one day they will get to see him do those things again.

“If there is anything that you know,” added Rouse. “I wish that you would come forth and let us know, so we can get some closure.”

The Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office is scheduled to hold a news conference Friday, about Burnette’s disappearence.
