Middle Georgia Voters Placed In Wrong Districts

MACON, Georgia (AP) – Bibb County elections officials say more than 1,200 voters have been placed in the wrong districts for the first Macon-Bibb consolidated government election.

Elections Supervisor Jeanetta Watson told sources Wednesday that early voting has started for the Sept. 17 election and more than 30 people so far have cast ballots for the wrong candidates.

Spokesman for the Georgia Secretary of State, Jared Thomas, says the state is investigating the issue and county elections officials have been cooperative thus far.

Thomas says the investigation will likely wrap up after the election is over, and the probe could be passed along to the State Elections Board.

Watson says elections workers are now double checking voters’ district assignments.
