Middle Georgia Animal Rescues Need Help with Shelters
FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — There’s a ton of four-legged friends in Middle Georgia who could use help getting to a new home.
Monroe County rescue, Save A Pet, needs help building a new shelter.
The group has been housing animals at a farm in Monroe County, but the owners have decided to put the land up for sale.
Pat Corley, the president of Save A Pet, says the farm owners have graciously allowed the rescue to use the land for the last 8 years. Corley says they didn’t charge a dime for rent.
Now that Save A Pet has purchased space of their own the group needs help raising a total $250,000 to build a shelter.
On Saturday, the group is teaming up with Macon Purrs N Paws, which also needs money for a new ventilation system, for a fundraiser party. The proceeds will help both rescues continue saving lives.
“We’re a no kill shelter, so it will give them a chance to stay until they get adopted. We don’t put a time limit on trying to find them a home. So that’s why we need a shelter, some place that we can have them. Some place where we can have a lot of room for them to exercise,” said Corley.
The party is being hosted by Macon Pets Resort and Spa, Saturday, August 31st from 10am to 3pm. It’s going on at 4010 Northside Drive in Macon.
There will be live music, food, face painting, a bake sale, an opportunity to adopt and meet the animals, and more.
