Westside High School Goes on Lockdown for Gun on Campus
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Bibb County student will be charged after school officials say he brought a gun to Westside High School Thursday.
It happened around 11:53 am. Director of Risk Management for Bibb County Schools David Gowan says a teacher noticed a 15-year-old student near the rear of the school making threatening gestures and lifting up his shirt, to reveal he was carrying a gun on his waist.
Westside High School went on lockdown at 12:30pm. School officials say the student will be charged with multiple felony counts. An anonymous parent called 41NBC this afternoon and said she was not notified of the lockdown until 2pm.
Gowan says all students were sent home with a letter from the district explaining the lockdown, and the district notified all parents early Thursday afternoon through an automated voice message.
