Macon Police Officer Hits Man, Dog with Patrol Car

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Macon police officer hit a man and his dog with a patrol car on Friday.

The 21-year-old was walking in the street in the left lane on Eisenhower Parkway carrying the dog, when the officer attempted to get over, according to a news release from MPD.

The officer was traveling west on Eishenhower Parkway approaching the Bloomfield Road intersection and was “unable to swerve in time to avoid the male and struck him and the dog he was carrying”.

The victim was taken to the Medical Center of Central Georgia where he remains in stable condition and the dog died from its injuries. The officer was taken to the Medical Center of Central Georgia where blood was drawn as a routine part of the investigation.

The case remains under investigation.
