Mobile Veterans Center Makes Its First Trip to Milledgeville

mobile vetMILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Mobile Veteran’s Center stopped for the first time in Milledgeville on Friday to help vets learn what benefits they can receive.

The 38-foot mobile counseling center from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs office out of Macon is one-stop shopping that comes directly to the vets. It provides a wide range of resources, including counseling, outreach, and referral services to veterans and their families.

Michael Catoe is a readjustment counseling technician. He started driving the center around Middle Georgia last year. He says they’re really focusing on helping vets readjust to civilian life after returning from combat in Afghanistan and Iraq.

“They come back a little different and the family doesn’t recognize that as well.. They’re [the family] like, ‘This is a different person,’ so we want to make sure they [the vet] kind of reconnect with their family, any issues they have about that, to help them resolve those kinds of things,” Catoe said.

Catoe plans to add Milledgeville to his monthly stops here in Middle Georgia, which include Warner Robins, Macon, and Perry.
