Brashear Kicks Off Campaign for Warner Robins Mayor

brashearWARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A candidate for Warner Robins mayor officially opened his campaign Thursday night.

Current City Councilman Mike Brashear, who’s served on council for the past two years, held a kickoff party at his headquarters on Watson Boulevard.  Brashear says the city of Warner Robins is changing, and it’s time to keep pace with the recent growth the city’s seen.

He says his 47 years of aerospace and defense experience will go a long way in helping Robins Air Force Base avoid closure.  Regardless of whether Congress calls for it, he says the city needs to be prepared.

He adds, if elected, his two years on council will help him work well with council.

“We’ll have a much different approach,” Brashear says.  “We’re going to be very transparent. We’re going to go back to having our pre-council meetings a week ahead of time and have worksessions and lay out plans and priorities going forward so we’ll be all on the same songbook, so to speak.”

Brashear also said he wants to build new parks in the city for citizens to use during the week and then transform those parks into competitive sporting facilities on weekends.

Councilman Daron Lee, former mayoral candidate Chuck Chalk, former firefighter Randy Toms and Public Works Director Joe Musselwhite are all running for mayor.
