Baldwin Deputies Investigating Weekend Shootings

sanorrio youngMILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Baldwin County sheriff’s deputies believe two shooting incidents from over the weekend that left one teenager injured are connected.

Cpt. Brad King tells 41NBC the first shooting happened around 2 a.m. on Sunday at Another Level Pool Hall off Irwinton Road. Deputies responded to a disturbance and witnesses told them a single gun shot was fired. Investigators found a single gun shell case in the parking lot.

While working that scene, deputies were called out to an apartment complex off Hardwick Street to another shooting. King says 27-year-old Sanorrio Young was found with a handgun. Investigators say 10 to 12 shots were fired and several cars in the parking lot were hit.

Nineteen-year-old Aundare Griffin was sent to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his thigh. He is listed in stable condition at the Medical Center of Central Georgia.

King says the gun recovered at the apartment complex is the same caliber of the gun shell casing found at the pool hall. He adds investigators are waiting for ballistics results to determine if it is the same gun used at both shootings.

Investigators say the two shootings appear to be related.

King says deputies are still determining a motive, but does say the suspect and victim knew each other.

Young is charged with aggravated assault. He’s booked in the Baldwin County jail. As of Tuesday morning, a bond has not been set.
