State Trooper Arrested, Charged with DUI in Perry
PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Georgia State trooper was arrested and charged with drunk driving and several other offenses after he veered off the road and into a guardrail in Perry.
27-year-old Marshall T. Harris of Warner Robins was off-duty Tuesday night, when he was driving a patrol car on I-75 near exit 135 and left the travel lane. According to Georgia State Patrol’s Public Affairs Office, the vehicle struck the guardrail and he left the scene. Upon returning to the patrol post, another trooper detected an odor of alcohol and he was placed under arrest by his own agency.
Harris was taken to the Houston County Jail and charged with Driving Under Influence, failing to maintain lane and leaving the scene of an accident. No injuries and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
According to GSP, he’s been placed on administrative leave while the incident is under investigation.
