Warner Robins Police Department Getting Armored Vehicle

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Soon the Warner Robins Police Department will be adding a thousand pound armored vehicle tank to it’s fleet.

The Warner Robins City council members approved the agreement with the Georgia Municipal Association to purchase the bullet proof car. The city will take out a $251,000 loan to lease the 2013 Lenco BearCat armored vehicle.

While council members agreed the purchase is to improve public safety in the community, one citizen Jason Patrick told council members he felt the armored vehicle only increases violence.

“It just escalates from there,” Patrick said, ” to see a small town purchase this armored assault vehicle is concerning.”
