Three Milledgeville Businesses Win First BOOST Grants

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Three small downtown business owners are getting the boost they need to run their store.

The Milledgeville MainStreet Downtown Development Authority awarded its first set of BOOST grants on Thursday to Blossoms Florists, HairBar, and Amici’s Italian Cafe. Each business won $1,000 to help pay for signage and roof repair.

“This is helping them to market their business, it’s helping them fix problems in their building so I think for a small business a thousand dollars can go a long way,” Milledgeville MainStreet Downtown Development Authority Director Carlee Schulte said.

The grant program is funded by members of the community, known as boosters. Four times a year, small businesses can apply for the grant and the boosters select the winners. Schulte says this is a way for the community to help its small business owners succeed.

The application deadline for the next round of BOOST grants is October 25th.
