27 Fire Recruits Graduate
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Twenty seven Macon-Bibb County Fire recruits are now officially firefighters.
The fire department held a graduation ceremony for the recruits Friday, at Central Georgia Technical College. It was the largest firefighter graduating class.
Family and friends along with fire officials filled the auditorium to congratulate the recruits for successfully completing the 12 week training course.
Fire Chief Marvin Riggins pinned the new firefighters and Training Chief Rico Stephens distributed diplomas.
Other platform guest included Macon Mayor Robert Reichert, and Fire Chaplain Charles Jones.
The new firefighters were assigned to their fire stations in the county following the ceremony.
Fire Chief Riggins said his department is looking forward to the new firefighters joining the ranks of the Macon and Bibb County Fire Department.
“We’re excited to have them because they’re going to be distributed all around the city and county fire stations,” said the fire chief.
During the ceremony, the new recruits took the oath of office given by Chief Riggins. Riggins told the graduates having integrity and good character are key components to remain a firefighter.
