500 Backpack Giveaway For Students

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – When it’ time to head back to school, unfortunately not all students will have what they need for the classroom.

But a local promoter is working to change that by giving away 500 backpacks stuffed with supplies!
Larry Guyton of Guyton Entertainment kicked off his inaugural 500 Backpack giveaway Monday. Guyton and Kelron Howard of the Riverview Ballroom picked up backpacks at the Walmart on Chambers Road.

Guyton said he wanted to be a blessing to students who are facing financial challenges.
Guyton along with volunteers will give away the packed bags on Wednesday, at 1 p.m., at the Alexander ballroom located at 3670 Eisenhower Parkway. Children must be present to receive a backpack.

“We take enormous pride and joy in serving at risk children and believe the back to school season is a wonderful time for a fresh start,” said Guyton’s Entertainments Executive Director, Robert Cox. ” It is clear that the back to school backpack give-away furnishes children with the supplies they need and contributes to their confidence to help make the academic year ahead a successful one.”
